Casa do Médico de São Rafael

Set in a restored 19th-century quinta that keeps its original character, Casa do Médico de São Rafael is one of the landmark buildings of Sines. It has 20 rooms (double, twin, double for single use and deluxe rooms of over 30 m²), all with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, TV, a safe and a minibar.

The restaurant, with a classic dining room and a sea-view terrace beside the vertical garden, serves Portuguese and Mediterranean regional cooking, with fresh fish and meat: shrimp and langoustine rice, pan-fried octopus with crushed potatoes and spinach, black pork tenderloin with apple compote and, for dessert, sericaia with Elvas plums. There is also a bar and round-the-clock room service.

For longer or business stays there is a gym, a two-level library with a spiral staircase, a games room, an underground garage with 24-hour surveillance, and rooms for meetings and events, from conferences to weddings.

The house is wheelchair accessible and holds quality (ISO 9001) and environmental (ISO 14001) certification. A good base for exploring the old town of Sines and the beaches along the coast, and for heading down to Porto Covo, where the Fishermen's Trail begins.
